Found this on Garth Nix's website. In case you're not familiar with him, he's a popular young adult author -- writes some great stuff. I loved his Abhorsen trilogy. (I also did an event with him a couple of years ago, and he was one of the nicest authors I've met... which is always a plus...) Anyway, here's his essay on creating a book.
